A Changed Life

Sunita was six years old when she was taken into the Morning Star Children' s Charity Home. She was born in a northwestern village to a deaf and dumb mother, who is from the lowest caste, and an unknown father. Sunita and her mother lived in a cowshed and slept on the ground with the animals. Her mother' s job is to clean the cow sheds with her bare hands. As a result of her mother' s condition, she was unable to speak and communicated only through gestures. Sunita didn' t know how to walk and crawled on all fours. Because of malnutrition, she weighed only 17 pounds and was too weak to walk. After staying in MSCC' s home for several months, her progress was spectacular. Due to the love and education Sunita received there, she is now a lively and cheerful child: walking, talking, and fully integrated into the tight-knit community. She is also second in her class in the first grade. You wouldn't know where she came from if you met her.
